Help & Support
We are open 10 a.m. – 10 p.m. seven days a week, with the exception of major holidays and unforeseen catastrophes.
Market Fresh Books has been in Evanston since October 2009.
Our model is based on selling lots of great books at affordable prices. We rely on our awesome customers. If you have a positive experience at our store, it really helps us out if you leave a review on our Yelp or Google Review page.
We do not have a catalogue of our inventory, but our friendly and knowledgeable staff is always happy to help point you in the right direction. Because we do not catalogue our media inventory, we are not able to contact customers if we receive a specific title in stock.
We are a small business, and believe that customer service is best when done face-to-face. Our staff is dedicated to making sure you enjoy your experience here, and not wondering why the employees are on the phone all the time.
Due to the nature of selling used merchandise, all sales are final.
DVDs and CDs are non-returnable. We always advise inspecting discs before buying.
Unworn T-shirts with tags intact may be exchanged for different sizes within seven days of purchase. You must have your receipt.
There is City of Evanston street parking available near the store, but we do not have designated store parking.
We do not have a store phone, and we do not email offers. You must physically come to the store to claim an offer or decline and collect your items.
We do not have a public restroom. The closest public restroom is at the Evanston Public Library, across the street from our store.
We do not buy based on weight, we only sell them by the pound.
You may bring in items to be sold any time between 10 am and 4 pm.
Our experienced pricers determine offers based on demand for the title, condition of the item, and inventory levels. Offers are not made based on quantity or weight.
If one of our pricers is available, we can usually have an offer in about 15-30 minutes. This can vary depending on how busy the store is and the quantity of items. While waiting, feel free to browse around the store, and our staff will let you know when the offer is ready.
We make offers on the bulk of the dropoff; we do not price items individually. Our experienced pricers use market research and years of experience to construct offers based on the demand, condition, and availability of your items.
It is a sad reality, but there comes a time when certain books simply will not be read. Rather than let our shelves overflow with, say, multiple copies of Consumer’s Digest 1981, we pay a pickup service to recycle unusable books responsibly. It would be easier and less expensive for us to simply dump unusable books into the trash. It is more ethical to ensure that items are properly recycled and steered clear of landfills.
Once an offer is paid out, the transaction is final. However, until you are paid out, your items are still yours. If you choose not to accept our offer, you may take your items back. Please note that if an offer is not claimed or declined by the end of the day, the items are considered “abandoned.”
Of course! Many local PTAs already use our services, selling books to us for store credit and replenishing their stock with what they ideally want in their school libraries. It is a great way to build your quality school library for free!
We are happy to evaluate rare books; however, we are typically more in the market for the type of book you would see on the shelves of chain book stores. We do have a section of books published prior to 1950, and a section of “decorative” sets.
If you are working on a professional project and are in need of decorative books, we’ll be able help. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org with inquiries.
We are not able to assist with bringing books in to our store.
We do not typically make house calls. However, we can make exceptions in extreme circumstances. Please email email@example.com for inquiries.
We always accept donations.
In general, we do not put items on hold. However, we can make exceptions in some cases.
We want to celebrate great artists, thinkers, writers, and local businesses! A recent addition to our inventory, these boutique shirts are original designs for showing off your taste and Chicago pride.
You can order new shirts, mugs, phone cases, and other items through our website. We do not currently sell books online, but stay tuned!
We do not have chairs or lounge areas—we prefer to fill the store with great books and other items.
Maybe! Please send a resume to firstname.lastname@example.org, and we will email an application.
Of course you can! Just don’t forget to take them with you when you leave 🙂
